The Low 231 has a planetary system with 5 gears giving it a 4:0 to 1 reduction. With a hard steel for the gears and housing the planetary assembly is sturdy and durable. Please note that drivers should use 2,500 or less for the RPM that is applied based on 2,500 times 4 as this gives 10,000 RPMs. Damage can occur to he transfer case if drivers don't observe this.
