On most coil-sprung models, the Ranhard rod (or track bar) is in control of the axle housing's lateral movement. Attaching to the axle and chassis with flexible mounting points on opposite sides of the vehicle in order to accommodate suspension travel. After installing a suspension lift, it is not uncommon for the axle housing to be forced out of alignment. As a result, there is often undue stress on the related components that causes handling problems and excessive wear.
