    Jiffy
I spent a while looking up reviews on websites and Youtube for different Rooftop Tents. I went with the Roam Vagabond due to it being what appeared a good middle option. I have to say I definitely made the right choice. The install wasn't bad watching the video on their Youtube, although I don't understand why a $2k tent wouldn't come with printed instructions as well. I have the tent mounted on a Rhino Rack Vortex 3 bar system. When I first mounted the tent I discovered the rails on the bottom of the tent were not long enough to reach all three bars. The two bars it was sitting on were not the recommended distance apart. I contacted Roam and asked them if I could just purchase the longer rails for the large tent. They sold me two for around $100 and quickly had them shipped. I had to drill new holes to mount them on the tent, but that was no biggie. I then remounted the tent and sawed off the excess rails in the rear. I left some extra railing in the front for now in case I wanted to use it later. Just keep in mind you'll need to make sure the rails fit your rack. My wife and I have gotten faster and faster setting up/taking down camp. I definitely need to invest in some hinge steps to get to the front clips. I have a Rhino Rack Batwing on the driver side and it is difficult to reach the clips/zipper over it. Other than that it is very simple to get out/put up. The annex is awesome for privacy/changing/staying dry. It is well worth the extra money and honestly you're crazy if you don't get it. The mattress is very comfortable. We slept in a cabin before sleeping in the tent for three nights on a trip. I slept way better in the tent than in the cabin bed. We haven't really used the gear hammock much. One of the plastic clips on it was broken. I contacted Roam who is sending another one (waiting for about three months now). While waiting for that one I have the broken clip replaced with a carabiner. Shoe bags are useful, but be careful. On a windy day they can easily blow out of the channel they hang in if they are left empty. Insulation appears to be good. We were in the Michigan U.P. and had temps in the low 40's to upper 30's. We stayed warm with 1 sleeping bag each. Another bonus is that we could leave the sleeping bags in the tent when closing it. The rainfly worked well and held out all the water when we got rained on. It wasn't a heavy rain, but I'm sure it would've held up. We had moisture in the morning on the inside of the tent and annex. Of course this would've happened with any tent. We just simply wiped the inside down real quick before closing the tent. One thing I recommend is adding some LED light strips. I purchased some cheap ones on Amazon. They are powered by USB that I plug into an auxiliary outlet I added in the cargo area. I placed one using zip ties on the center bar inside the tent. The second is on the bottom just below the ladder to light up the annex/ground. Thanks to the velcro in the center of the tent I can run my USB through it down to the Jeep. I'll include a couple pics of the lights. If you're on the fence about this tent just do it. You will not regret it at all. Just keep in mind any time you travel where you'd be staying in this tent instead of a hotel it is paying for itself. If you don't have the cash or time to save the cash just use Affirm at checkout. I used it so I could hurry up and get the tent for a trip and pay it off after. Very easy process and user friendly app.
