A Great Choice for Improved Highway Handling & Off-Road Confidence
Port Angeles JKU Rubicon 4 years ago
More than 95% of my driving is on pavement. Sometimes with the missus onboard so she’d rather not have an unbearable ride. But, the 5% of trails that I’m on are often in remote areas without support. On the nearly 100 miles of the Magruder Trail (separating the Bitterroot Selway Wilderness from the Frank Church Wilderness ID/MT). And, at least once a year to the Moab area. Recently (as soon as Canyonlands opened during this Covid-19 pandemic), we spent THREE weeks in Canyonlands NP practicing social distancing and exploring all three districts (Island in the Sky, the Maze, and the Needles). If there is a better place to practice social distancing I’d like to hear about it. We were at times more than a hundred miles from any support (or cell phone service) and often were crawling along on Jeep trails such as The Shafer Trail, the White Rim Trail, The Flint Trail, through Teapot Canyon, up and over Elephant Hill, S.O.B. Hill, etc. Vehicle parts and pieces were strewn about. But, not from our Jeep, which was recently serviced by Northridge (Silverdale) and outfitted with the Clayton 3.5in Overland lift kit (a great choice for improved highway handling and off-road confidence); as well as other Northridge upgrades to our Rubicon: Ten Factory axles, Adams front driveshaft, Teraflex Big Bore Front Brake Kit, AEV, EVO and Poison Spider Skid plates, Poison Spider Hood louvre (great in the heat), Crusher aluminum flares and liners, KING shocks, Northridge Grade 8 Hardware, etc. This recent Moab trip included an uneventful 2,200 miles on the pavement to get there and back and an equally uneventful exploration of Canyonlands NP, in 100 degree heat and even during thunderstorms with the quintessential flash floods. Our loyal Jeep JKU Rubicon, and Northridge upgrades provided dependable exploration in areas where other vehicles had left parts and pieces behind as mementos of their passage. Dang, for a moment I even thought I was in Silverdale when I saw advertisements on my table for NORTHRIDGE at the Moab Diner (a must do breakfast spot while in town). The sales/service department at Northridge are top shelf. None better in my humble opinion. MOAB 2020 - Thank you NORTHRIDGE crew!
