The Ultimate Recovery System For Your Jeep JL/JT
Off-road ethusiasts know just how important a recovery Winch is for your 4x4. A winch gives you the confidence to explore tough trails knowing you can recover you and your buddies out of any sticky situation your vehicles encounter on the trail. After wheeling in my winch-equipped Jeep Wrangler for several years I knew as soon as I picked up my new 2023 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon that a winch was in its near future. Luckily, my Gladiator came equipped with the Mopar Front Steel Bumper, which features the ability to easily integrate a mounting plate and winch inside the bumper. While I prefer the Mopar Steel Bumper, there are a near endless amount of bumpers that a Winch can be mounted to! Installing a winch to your Jeep or 4x4 is the perfect weekend project for anyone of any skill level.
Grimm OffRoad Winch Plate
Installing a winch plate into your Jeep JL/JT Mopar Front Steel Bumper has never been easier thanks to Grimm OffRoads Winch Plate that I picked up from Northridge4x4. I chose this winch plate because I wanted a mounting plate that would be easy to install and seamlessly integrate with my factory front bumper. Grimm OffRoads Winch Plate is a one piece design and is constructed from 1/4" steel, giving it the strength to withstand 14,000 pounds of pulling force, more than enough for my application!
Because of its one piece design, Grimm's Winch Plate is the easiest to install winch plate on the market, compared to other winch plates which require the assembly of several brackets and pieces before you can even bolt the plate to your Jeep. I was suprised at how easy it was to install the Winch plate and get my Warn EVO 10s mounted up, only taking me about two hours at a relaxed pace. I especially loved the fact that I installed this Winch Plate without the need to drill or cut anything on my Jeep, it was all 100% bolt on.
Warn EVO 10s Winch
I knew before I even picked up my Gladiator that I was going to be putting a Warn EVO 10s on it, due to my previous excellent experience with the same winch on my 2 Door Jeep Wrangler. The EVO 10s comes with synthethic rope, which personally is my preference due to synthethic rope typically being safer to work with and easier to maintain than steel winch cable. The EVO 10s flawlessly mounted up to my Grimm OffRoad Winch Plate and was incredibly easy to wire up to my battery, and I especially love how the winch does not block any air flow to the radiator. Check out our installation video for a detailed guide on how to get your Grimm OffRoad Winch Plate and Warn Winch installed!
Warn pioneered the electric winch in the late 1950's and has been producing top tier winches ever since! |
Why Your Jeep Needs a Winch!
Simply put, a Winch is a necessity for your Jeep or 4x4 because hitting the trail is inherently full of upredictable and unforseen challenges. Trail conditions are constantly changing—what might typically be a 2/10 difficulty level trail can quickly become a 6/10 due to new obstacles, deeper ruts caused by heavy trail use, snow, mud from recent rain, and other unpredictable factors.
Whether you're rock crawling or cruising easy forest roads, a winch can be a true lifesaver in any off-road scenario. Winches also pack incredible utility outside of vehicle recoveries, such as assisting in pulling fallen trees off of the trail, something I frequently need to do on densely forested Sierra Nevada trails. While I always recommend checking current trail conditions online or with the local ranger station, to have a safe and stress free trip, a Winch is the best insurance to have while out off-roading. So what are you waiting for? Equip your Jeep with a sturdy Winch Plate and recovery Winch from Northridge4x4 and head out on the trail with confidence!
