ARB Brushless Twin Air Compressor On-Board
Features & Product Details
ARB has added a host of smart features to these compressors to provide user feedback and to ensure they’re built to last.
For starters, the ARB Brushless Air Compressors provide Status Reporting. Audio and visual alerts will keep you informed of exactly what’s happening with the compressor depending on its status or if there’s an issue. The reason it’s on the switch? Compressors are usually mounted in a spot that’s hidden away or far from the user. The switch is often in a place where the user can easily see it.
The ARB Brushless Air Compressors also have voltage and overload protection. This guards against power spikes and fluctuations and helps prevent damage to the electronics. Additionally, overload protection shields the compressor and its power supply from damage due to over-current or motor stall. Both features help to increase the compressor’s reliability, durability, and longevity.
ARB Brushless Air Compressors also have Active Cooling helping to optimize reliability and extend the life of each motor. This means users can power the compressors for longer periods of time without worrying they’ll cut out or need to cool down.
If opting for one of the Brushless twin variants, they’ll come with Smart Start Up. This is a staggered starting feature that reduces power spikes at start-up allowing the twin to be used with smaller, less powerful charging systems. Plus, if your vehicle’s charging system becomes strained, the Brushless twin will turn off one of the two motors but keep working instead of completely shutting down.
Another Brushless Air Compressor benefit? There’s no motor service, since there are no wearing components. This gives the air compressor an increased life cycle. So, no matter where you are in the world, your compressors will provide plenty of power and years of service.
A twin compressor system employs two compressors working in tandem to provide a greater volume of air and efficiency. Twin compressors are excellent for those with bigger rigs, more space, and large tires that require lots of air. For the portable twin compressor version - click HERE.
Features:
Function Continuity
Programmed to constantly monitor performance and make necessary adjustments to account for external factors, such as temperature and variations in vehicle charging systems.
Smart Start Up
Twin compressors are designed with staggered “Power On” functionality to reduce initial inrush current and protect your vehicles electrical system.
Relays Eliminated
Relays have been removed from the onboard models to simplify and speed up installation.
Status Reporting
Live Diagnostics with both audio and visual alerts.
Motor Isolation
Twin compressor models are programmed to shut down one of its twomotors to continue operating in low voltage situations.
Polarity Correction Harness
Portable Brushless models feature blue clamps and a polaritycorrection harness, allowing either clamp to be connected to eitherbattery terminal.

We’ve had significant problems with the new ARB Brushless Dual Compressor that replaced our 10 year old standard ARB dual compressor that was a work horse with the ARB Air Pressure app. First, the pumps don’t have the same form factor, so it was not an easy install. The new pump is longer because the air line exit is on the back of the pump, not the top. This required some rearranging the manifold, horn and other lines to fit (installed in the engine bay of our 2015 JK by the brake master cylinder). The clamp mount is a huge improvement with the new design and makes it easy to remove for warranty repair. The unit tested fine but it gets hot and has wimpy cooling fans that move very little air.. On our first trail run the pump started running on one pump only after the second tire and started beeping, 4 beeps (low voltage) even with the engine running. Watching the voltage we noticed the voltage slowly dropped to around 11.8 volts after several minutes of use. We replaced the alternator with a 250 watt HD version, we upgraded the big three wiring and we replaced the battery. After all that expense we had the exact same problem with dropping voltage; however, reving the engine to 1000-1200 rpm fixed the power issue. Per ARB the brushless pump uses up to 90 amps. We never saw more than 70 amps draw with a clamp on amp meter. We even sent the pump in for warranty repair to see if it had an issue. They replaced one motor but the same issue remained. The fix was using JScan and boosting the engine RPM with their winch boost function when airing up the tires. However, JScan disconnects and drops to standard idle if you switch between ARB’s Pressure Control App and JScan so set up the ARB target pressures first. Overall, I’m disappointed with the brushless compressor. It is faster, but definitely not worth the cost considering all the other mods to get it to run correctly. Plus the cooling system of the compressor isn’t very robust and requires more installation clearance.
