As stated in the description from RockHard4x4—the sport cage that Jeep engineered for the JLs is made of an incredibly hard steel. While I appreciate that Rockhard4x4 ships this harness bar with a special hardened cobalt bit, after spending over 3.5 hours “enjoying the process” (that’s what RH4x4 suggests in their instructions XD ) with their bit and a bunch of oil and making a couple of dimples in the frame, nowhere NEAR making one hole—I was about to give up and ask a buddy of mine to weld it on for me. Then I tried a carbide bit for tile and glass from Home Depot with the same oil. I drilled all 8 holes in 15-20 minutes. Life. Changed. Do yourself a favor, buy yourself two 1/4 carbide drill bits from Home Depot for about $15 each (the extra is just incase you break the tip of the bit as I did after drilling 4 of the 8 holes). I used Diablo brand, but after my experience, I would expect any halfway decent carbide bit to work. Now THAT is a process we can all “enjoy”
