The good, the bad, and the ugly..... 9 years ago

The good is the price. Not many other rear bumpers can offer a single action rear tire carrier with the ease of functionality for under $900. The bad is this is obviously a imported product and due to that some of the parts have some quality issues in addition to a couple design flaws. The ugly....first off the actual piece that has the studs to mount the tire on was to large to slide into the arm mount. Caused 20 minutes of grinding and repainting. Fixed that. The center 3rd brake light was wired backwards. Black is + and red is -. 30 minutes to figure that out. Then the design flaw. The arm mounts to the tailgate with one adjuster and is held tight by 2 rubber stoppers that press against the tailgate sheet metal. Not bad in theory. However, you don't have enough adjustment to ever get it tight enough and even then the weak tailgate sheet metal flexes and you have rattle trap. I originally put stainless flat washers between the rubber stoppers and the swing arm so it gave me a little more pressure and that helped a lot. But finally I bought a Rancho tailgate armor plate cut out the center and welded a hinge bracket on it. Now the stoppers press on the 1/4in steel plate....problem solved. In all I really like it now. It just gave me more work than I bargained for. Also, on a side note the arm is almost an exact match to the more expensive Rock Slide Engineering bumper. Rock Slide make a great Rotopax and accessory mount that fits perfectly on the High Rock arm. Lots of good options with this bumper. Add the rock roller too. Came in really handy in Moab last year. Hope this helps! Cheers
