Okay. Fair warning, I'm a novice female, not an experienced mechanic, but I bought a Jeep and have been learning along the way. I read the reviews on here as well as a few other sites, and here's what I've got: Take the back panel piece off and leave it off. The instructions say to drill holes through it... I'm not a driller. I left it off, which meant I didn't need the spacers. I bought felt tape off Amazon. You get twice as much as you need for $8. I lined the back edges and the angled side, and it dampens a good bit of the noise. I also lined the silver piece of the lock to prevent the door from rattling. So far so good. The whole install, plus clean up took me an hour and a half by myself. Probably took me longer than I'd care to admit to figure out something to use to help support the box while I screwed it into the tailgate, but I got it.. As far as other reviews mentioning the weight of it making the door sag, I'm waiting for my back bumper to arrive with the bumper supported tire carrier, so the entire weight of the tire is coming off anyway which is way more than the box, so I shouldn't have problems there. It seems if you think things through completely, there's always a work-around. Yes, I have a Northridge sticker on it already, no they did not pay me (they can if they want, though.. Ha!). I just like their customer service people... Except that one guy. He's weird.

I was really excited about this box, but it has not turned out well. The installation was more difficult than it should have been because the bottom two holes were partially covered and had to be drilled out. It was also missing the screws to hold on the shelves, so I had to go to the hardware store to get those. The worst part is it's really too heavy for the tailgate. Once installed my tailgate started sagging a bit and not closing properly. I took it to the dealer to see if that could be corrected or reinforced and they said no. I do also have the reinforced Mopar hinges but that did not help. I also still have the OEM tire so no added weight there. I have decided to take this off because it's not worth damaging my door. It seems to be a sturdy well-made box. Very unfortunate it's not going to work.
