Well made and a huge improvement

These are pricey but well made. They are a significant improvement over the stock lights, and fit snugly against the body.
JW Speaker 279 J Series LED Tail Light Kit

Good quality with flaws, not worth the money
    WShawlee 9 months ago
This is a well made product; the quality is readily evident. It looks good, and it will hold up. It is simply not worth the money, though. It was supposed to come with standard blanking plates, with the option to order different plates to house a variety of different lights. Even the standard plates are apparently an optional extra, and did not ship with the bumper. This bumper is also incredibly expensive, and comes out to almost a thousand dollars delivered than the equivalent product from Smittybilt or Warn. If you want the additional mounts for lights, jerry cans, rotopax, etc, they are also fairly pricey. This is a good product but it's just not worth the money. The install method is also needlessly complex, and makes mounting the bumper a huge paint in the @$$.
LOD Destroyer Shorty Rear Bumper w/Tire Carrier Black Powder Coated

    Solidly made, very useful
    WShawlee 9 months ago
These are very well made and have a really good powder coating. They do a great job making use of what is otherwise dead space in the vehicle. Would be great if they had some way of fitting a cover or an elastic netting to keep things from possibly flying around when off-road. Install was straightforward and easy.
Fishbone Offroad Wheel Well Storage Bins - Black

Two installs 8 years apart, and still the same problems
    WShawlee 9 months ago
Build quality on these is OK, not great, not bad either. I've installed these on two different JKs 8 years apart, and the install was a pain in the @$$ both times. There fitment problems with the provided body brackets, and the mounting holes do not line up. The quality is decent, and they hold up over time, but I'd recommend going with a product that mounts to the body using nutserts. Work really well as a table/work surface/drink rest when you're on the trail.
    Bushwacker Flat Style Fender Flares

    Excellent steering upgrade
    WShawlee 1 year ago
I installed this drag link along with the Yeti XD tie rod, and matched stabilizer with related bracketry. As an enthusiast mechanic I left all the installation and alignment to an expert, so I can't really speak to ease of install - only that it was more involved than my skill level. As for performance, the replacement of most of my steering components with higher quality parts yielded a much smoother ride and eliminated a lot of vibration and suspension induced bump steer. Would recommend.

Steer Smarts Yeti XD No Drill Top Mount Draglink w/Griffin Attenuator & Black Bellows

    Attractive and good modification

These were easy to install and look reasonably good once fitted to the vehicle. Mud flaps in general are something worth considering if you are using bigger tires and have installed a lift. The bigger tires can throw up quite a bit of road debris, and the minor addition of removable mud flaps makes the road safer for the people traveling behind you. If you no longer have the rear bumper bolts normally required to install these to the frame of your Wrangler, the required M10 bolts can be had for a very reasonable price at most hardware stores, and represents a significant savings from running them down via the parts desk at a dealership. So far no complaints.
    Teraflex Transit Mud Flap Kit

    Good experience so far
    WShawlee 4 years ago
I've had these in use for about three weeks at time of writing, and they've been exposed to higher temperatures (35C +), and torrential rain, no exposure yet to extreme cold (but that's coming). Key points so far: -Broader beam pattern than stock headlights -Much brighter and clearer light -No water ingress noted yet -Install was fairly straightforward The build quality on these is evident when unboxing, and generally seems to be reflected in daily use. Two things I found very disappointing is that there were no installation instructions in the box, and one of the wires in the connectors was not properly seated, and I had to to reseat the wire to ensure the light worked properly. These may seem like small things, but these lights command a premium price and are built specifically for the Wrangler; the wires should have been caught by factory QA/QC, and there should have been installation instructions in the box. When doing the install, if you've had your Wrangler for a few years, I'd recommend buying replacement bezels to go along with the new lights. Over time the angle clips that screw into the surrounding frame, and which keep the headlight in place, can wear out and fall off. So, new bezels are not a bad idea when installing these lights.
JW Speaker 8700 Evolution J2, Black Bezel Headlight Kit

    Excellent Value

I installed this kit and the Teraflex rear big brake kit after lifting my JK and upgrading to 35in tires. The increase in stopping performance is significant and a major improvement over the stock brakes. Teraflex has since released the Delta Brake Kit, which is even beefier than this kit for both front and rear, and based on this kit's performance would probably be a good buy as well. Install complexity for this kit was low, and was a straightforward brake replacement. At time of writing I've put about 5,000 driving km on them without issue. There is a recommended burn-in procedure for this kit prior to doing heavy driving/off-roading - it takes less than an hour and is worth doing to ensure the rotors perform correctly. Notes on rotor types: -These are plain rotors and are good for people who do a lot of mudding or off-roading driving where you may accumulate dirt, mud, etc in the wheels. -Slotted and vented rotors have improved cooling performance and do better while on-road, but can get damaged if exposed to a lot of mud/dirt and not cleaned out immediately.
Teraflex Big Brake Kit Front, Plain

    Quality comprehensive lift kit
    WShawlee 4 years ago
This kit includes every major component required to give your jeep additional clearance while still retaining the factory steering and axle geometry post-install. The price reflects the build quality of the parts and the comprehensiveness of the kit. If this lift is installed with all the supporting equipment you will not need to do piece-meal upgrades after installation, and these components are sturdy enough to hold up for a long time with proper maintenance (every joint has a grease point). The biggest improvement I've noticed with this kit is that my on-road handling and control has improved significantly. This is largely due to the triple-rate coils, and RK shocks. If you're not looking to lift your jeep but want to improve the vehicle's handling, consider upgrading to triple-rate coils and some nicer shocks - these will be a major improvement over the stock components without breaking the bank. Important installation notes: -Self-installation of this kit is recommended only if you are an experienced wrench bender -At 3.5in of lift, replacing the front driveshaft on the jeep is recommended. If you do heavy rock-crawling with the additional articulation and clearance after the lift is installed while still using the stock driveshaft there is a higher risk of damaging the driveshaft and other components on the vehicle. -If installing bigger tires consider upgrading the vehicle with a big brake kit. Bigger tires/wheels means more rolling mass, and the stock rotors/calipers will not do as good a job bringing the vehicle to a stop. This is also something to consider if your vehicle has a good deal more additional weight (roof rack, steel bumpers, armor, etc). This is a safety point and should not be overlooked. -To maintain road traffic law compliance in some areas you may also need to install mudflaps. This varies from region to region, but there are a lot of kits available which are easily removable for off-roading. This is also a safety point as big nobbly tires tend to kick up more debris on-road and can damage vehicles behind you.

Good quality but not particularly practical
    WShawlee 4 years ago
I was looking for a way to declutter my cargo area and figured I'd give these a shout. After using them for a few years I'd say they're not bad, but they're not great either. The build quality is good, and I've not had any issues with the seams or the gate mount bracket. The manner in which the bags mount to the rear gate provides them with a single pivot point, which means they bounce around and smack into the gate when you open/close the rear gate. They also tend to slop around a bit whenever you go over larger obstacles, or even moderate speed bumps. From a cargo management perspective I didn't find they gave me any real advantage, and I was better served by just throwing out/removing old junk.
Bestop RoughRider Tailgate Organizers - Black Diamond

    Convenient / Practical Cargo Storage
    WShawlee 4 years ago
I do moderate off-roading, but use my JK as a daily driver as well, so having room to put everyday items meant either taking my regular trail gear out of the back whenever I did any kind of shopping/moving, or having a basic cargo organizer to keep things from floating around the cabin. This unit does a good job of keeping my tow straps and bulkier tools out of the way. Been using mine for several years and its held up well over time. You could certainly do a lot worse than this for the money.
