Great Seat; Great Northridge Customer Service; Abysmal Mastercraft Support
MNguy 2 years ago
The Good: 1. Very comfortable seat, way better than OEM seats. Excellent build quality. I drove my Jeep TJ across the country twice in 2022 and after 9 hours a day in the OEM seats my back really felt it. Early indications are that these seats will make a big difference going across the country this year. 2. Northridge Customer Service was outstanding. I was updated every other day, until I received it, on the status of my request for replacement HW. The Bad: 1.MasterCraft installation instructions are very poor. Mastercraft has produced a video as well as detailed written instructions. However the placement of the seat belt bracket on the topside of the seat riser causes the bracket to jam into the seat edge preventing one corner of the seat from installing flush against the riser frame. This is visible in the video where the bracket is angled out. When I called the number on the installation instructions the person indicated he had no knowledge of installing Baja RS Seats and ask that I take photos, write up the problem and submit it to MasterCraft Customer Service. I sent the requested detail but never received a response. (Yes I checked spam folder). I finally found a YouTube video where the installer stated that MasterCraft support instructed him to install the bracket on the underside rather than the topside as shown. I did the same and the seats installed perfectly. In addition to the lack of response, I found it annoying is that the installation video is 12 years old and has not been updated. 2. The space available to fit the nuts over the studs when fitting the Baja RS Seats is too narrow to get your hand in. Even after taping the nut to a wrench it took several attempts to seat the nut evenly over the studs and get it started without falling off. What appeared to take a minute in the installation video took far longer in practice. Yet the video did not show a close up or offer a tip on getting the nuts installed in such a tight space. Because of the limited working space what appeared to be a simple tightening of nuts over a stud was the most difficult and time consuming part of the installation. After getting over the frustration of the installation I have to say these are the most comfortable seats.

Perfect Replacement

Bought 4 of these to replace a burned out solenoid and update the other 3. They went in perfectly and I had my winch back. The build quality is very good and worth the extra cost compared to the cheaper brands that I used to update my other Warn winch.
