Justin's 2022 Jeep Wrangler JL Modified for Adventure 

The Jeep Wrangler JL Unlimited makes for an excellent vehicle to adventure in, offering plently of room to bring along the family and pack plenty of camping gear while still offering legendary capability the Jeep Wrangler is known for. The JL has truly cemeted itself as a proven off-road rig. Justin, a Northridge 4x4 customer, has modified his 2022 Jeep JL Unlimited Rubicon Extreme Recon to further bolster its off-road capability and durability while retaining the improved on-road characteristics offered by the Jeep JL. 

Suspension & Steering

Justin's suspension is set up to provide enhanced off-road stability, enable his lifted suspension to achieve greater articulation while crawling over obstacles, and provide excellent comfort on the road. Thanks to his Teraflex Falcon SP2 3.3 Fast Adjust Piggyback Shocks, he can quickly adjust the shock's tune, switching between 8 adjustments from soft to firm. This is incredibly beneficial for those who want direct control over their ride quality, whether they opt for a soft ride or firmer suspension.

Also equipped on his Jeep is the Teraflex Falcon Nexus EF 2.2 Adjustable Steering Stabilizer. This gives you the ability to fine-tune the steering responsiveness on your Jeep, whether you want a more weighted steering feel with the firm setting, the soft setting for effortless one-handed steering, or medium, which offers an impressive balance between the two. Best of all, it is a neutrally charged steering stabilizer, meaning it wont pull your steering wheel to one side like some other stabilizers will. Upgrading your rig's steering stabilizer is a great way to fine-tune the steering feel and turn larger tires with ease.

 

Recovery Equipment

Justins 2022 JL Unlimited Rubicon has no shortage of high-quality recovery equipment to ensure he can have a safe and confident adventure into the back country. Whether you are traveling in a convoy or flying solo, recovery equipment truly is one of the most important things to bring along with you on your off-road excursions. Justin equipped his rig with a Warn VR EVO10s w/ Synthethic Rope, a Winch is the cornerstone for any good recovery setup on a 4x4. Equipped with Synthethic Rope, this Warn winch is incredibly user friendly and safe to operate. Compared to steel cable, Syntethic is much easier to maintain and much lighter weight. Warn offers an excellent warranty on their winch, with a limited lifetime warranty on mechanical parts, with a 7 year warranty on electrical components. Gain the confidence you need to explore deeper into the backcountry, with a Warn Winch.   

To secure the winch to his front bumper, Justin opted for the Warn OE Rubicon Winch Plate. This winch plate seamlessly integrates into his Rubicon steel bumper and provides mounting points to bolt his Warn Winch to. Winch plates experience a large amount of force exerted on them during Winch use, thus The Warn Winch Plate is constructed from 1/4inch thick steel. This provides the plate plenty of strength to securely hold the winch in place during use. Warn also engineered their Winch Plate to position the winch low, as to not interfere with airflow to the grille. To ensure smooth operation of the Synthethic Rope, Justin opted for the Warn Epic 1.0 Fairlead in a stylish Gun Metal finish. 

Armor 

Protecting your rig off-road is important to ensure you don't inflict damage to crucial components that can leave you stranded or dent the bodywork of your 4x4. Luckily, Justin has armored up his rig to protect crucial components such as the oil pan, lower control arms, and front differential. The Artec Industries Oil Skid Plate w/ Oil Door - Aluminum is a much-needed addition to the Jeep JL Wrangler, as there are no oil pan skid plates installed from the factory. Adding Artec's Oil Pan Skid Plate ensures you have a sturdy line of defense between obstacles and the vulnerable oil pan, ensuring your rig lives to wheel another day. As an added bonus, the skid plate is constructed of aluminum to keep weight down on your Jeep, saving much-needed payload capacity for camping gear and other accessories.

The Jeep JL axles come equipped with a front axle disconnect, which enables better gas mileage while driving in 2-wheel drive. However, this means your axle tube has a vulnerable component mounted to it, leaving it as low-hanging fruit for obstacles to bang against. Artec's Front Center Axle Disconnect Skid provides a heavy-duty 1/4-inch thick steel upgrade to the OEM skid plate, so you won't have to ever worry about destroying this vital (and expensive) component on or off-road.

The front differential is one of the lowest underbody components on the Jeep JL, making it particularly vulnerable to damage while off-roading. To avoid potential damage and costly repairs, Justin installed a Rough Country M210 Front Diff Skid Plate. This skid plate provides a 1/4-inch thick steel barrier to protect the differential, offering ample strength to withstand the toughest impacts. Additionally, it features an opening under the drain plug, allowing for easy differential fluid changes.

Lighting & Electronics

Visibility is important while out on the trail and on the road, and additional lighting upgrades allow you to light up the trail, whether you are traveling at night or need to cut through thick dust clouds kicked up from your off-road convoy. Justin equipped his Jeep with the Baja Designs LP4 Series LED Kit to get much improved visibility while night wheeling and in low visibility scenarios. Blasting out a whopping total of 8,750 lumens and a 200-degree spread of illumination, Justin certainly lights the way while out on the trail.

The reverse lights that come standard on the Jeep JL are not the brightest and are a common complaint for JL owners, stating that they don't output enough light while backing up at night. To solve this, Justin swapped his factory steel rear bumper reflectors for Oracle's Rear Bumper LED Reverse Lights. These work in tandem with the factory reverse lights to produce an impressive amount of light. Providing over 1,000 lumens of light, you have more than enough light to back up with confidence and have clear visibility through your backup camera.

Taking full advantage of your Jeep JLs electrical and computer systems with the Z Automotive Tazer Mini Programmer is not only benefical after the installation of mods such as larger tires, but also allows for the customization and addition of a plethora of features. Programming your Jeep JL's computer with the Z Automotive Tazer Mini couldnt be easier, and is done all through your Jeeps speedometer screen, without the need to plug in your laptop to the Jeep and navigate through confusing software. With this awesome addition, Justin is able to calibrate his Jeep for his larger tires, calibrate the computer to function with an aftermarket gear ratios, and disable those pesky TPMS sensors. He can also easily program features such as a hood alarm which sounds an alarm if the hood is opened when the vehicle theft alarm is on. There is also a plethora of off-road oriented features to program into your Jeep to further its capability off-road. This little modification offers your Jeep mighty improvements. 

Exterior Mods

Justin has added several exterior modifications to his Jeep JL to enhance its capability and style on and off the trail. One exterior mod Justin did was the Rugged Ridge Front DRL Chop Brackets, which add additional room for larger tires while giving his Jeep a unique on and off-road presence. Jeepers love big tires, it's a fact of life; however, running an oversized spare tire on your factory tailgate can come with additional challenges. Justin opted for Teraflex's Alpha HD Adjustable Spare Tire Mounting Kit, which is adjustable to fit up to a 39-inch tire with Teraflex's Tailgate Reinforcement. Not only does it adjust to easily fit up to a massive 39-inch tire, it also relocates the rear brake light for optimal visibility and is constructed using tough CNC laser-cut steel for maximum strength. Teraflex has rigorously tested and proven their design with an impressive 14,000-cycle severe duty slam test.

Justin has transformed his Jeep to better suit his off-road and onroad adventures. Hes enhanced capability and comfort by adding a lift kit with Teraflex Falcon Sp2 3.3 Fast Adjust Piggyback Shocks and increased both on and off-road steering feel with the Teraflex Falcon Nexus EF 2.2 Adjustable Steering Stabilizer. Ensured he can always make it off the trail and through any obstacle with recovery gear such as his Warn VR Evo 10-S winch. Added vital underbody protection such as Artec's Oil Skid Plate and Rough Country's M210 Front Diff Skid Plate. Enhanced visibility on and off the trail with Baja Designs LP4 Series LED Light Kit, and gained much needed visibility while backing up at night with Oracle's Rear Bumper LED Reverse Lights. Hes also has the ability to truly optimize his Jeeps computer system to fit his needs with the Z Automotive Tazer Mini. Justin also has maximized his Jeeps exterior functionality and style with Rugged Ridges Front DRL Chop Brackets which give his Jeep an umistakable on and off-road prescence and bolted on Teraflex's Alpha HD Adjustable Spare Tire Mounting Kit which ensures even with big off-road tires he can still carry his full sized spare.
