I used this awning to shade the rear of my SUV that has the door that lifts upwards and the dome shape allows the door to fit nicely without hitting anything. I mounted it on a Gobi rack and my rear door also has the ladder accessory. It's a little tricky to setup by yourself, so I'd recommend doing it few times with some help to get the hang of it. It was steady in light to moderate wind. I wouldn't trust it with high gusts though.
