I received my BFH front bumper from my girlfriend as a present one year, completely by surprise. The stock bumper that my Jeep was then sporting was pretty haggard, so this was a pretty well needed upgrade (plus it provided a space for my winch). Opening the box, I knew what I was looking at, I was half pumped and half scared because I knew the installation process... I was going to have to chop up the frame of my Jeep. It took a bit of courage, but I finally installed the bumper one afternoon in the garage. First, the construction of the bumper looked to be flawless and rugged (I'll get to that later). Installation takes a bit of bravery, but the bumper is the reward. In order to install this, you are required to cut the crash bar and about 2 inches of frame horn off of your Jeep. On top of that, you need to drill 2 holes into your frame (the bumper uses 2 existing holes as well). The 4 new bolts that are required are provided. Construction wise, the bumper has impeccable welds and the construction that you would expect from Poison Spyder, along with a couple neat features built in that make it an excellent addition to your Jeep while on the trail, such as the sloped construction lets you slide on or off obstacles without hanging you up. Weight wise, the bumper is fairly light. Between the lose of the plastic bumper, the steel bumper support, the crash bar and the bit of frame, this bumper weighs about the same as stock, which makes it an excellent addition for people who are conscious about adding weight to their already porky JK. Offroad, this bumper is one of the things that I'm constantly reminded of and impressed with. The fit, finish and construction would all be in vain if it didn't perform. This bumper performs. The clearance gained over stock is incredible. Many times, I've watched friends tag their bumpers on obstacles either going up on approach or while trying to reset their line, but when I do the same, the BFH barely ever comes in contact with the trail. But, when it does, it laughs it off due to it's strong, minimalist construction. I, along with people spotting or watching on the trail, usually have something like 'that bumper gives awesome clearance' to say when tackling tough obstacles on the trail. Overall, the Poison Spyder BFH bumper may be one of the best things that I've stuck on my Jeep to date. Rock solid mounting point for your winch is already drilled into the bumper, too, but you will need to buy a fairlead mount to bolt on. Super strong, keeps weight down and it provides you with everything you need on the trail, nothing that you don't.
