Features & Product Details
There is a point in a short wheelbase build where the rear axle placement matters more than any single component. You see it in departure angle, in climbs that unload the rear, and in how hard the Jeep has to work just to stay settled. This system starts at that moment. The axle moves back. The wheelbase grows. The Jeep stops feeling rushed and starts feeling planted.
This Motobilt kit exists for builders who know the factory 2 door JK layout is a compromise. The stock rear suspension and wheelbase limit stability, tire size, and axle choice. Pushing the rear axle back up to 10 inches changes how the Jeep behaves everywhere, on climbs, descents, and at speed. This system replaces factory geometry with a true double triangulated rear 4 link foundation that supports that stretch correctly.
Once installed, the rear axle is no longer fighting short links or factory constraints. The suspension loads into real structure, link separation is controlled, and axle movement stays predictable through the full cycle. The added wheelbase calms the chassis, improves departure, and gives larger tires room to work without crowding the body or suspension. With the use of the rear coil over towers your suspension will be dialed in for any terrain.
This system is designed to work as a complete rear solution. A dedicated rear back half, bumper, fuel cell, and rear stretch coil over towers are available to support the axle stretch and shock placement required for long travel suspension. Together, they create a rear layout that is no longer limited by the factory frame or fuel tank location.
Features:
This system requires cutting and welding to the factory frame and is intended for experienced fabricators. Relocation of the factory fuel tank is required to accommodate axle stretch and rear suspension geometry. The body does not need to be removed. All components are designed to establish repeatable geometry, so the suspension does not rely on guesswork during installation.
Once complete, the rear of the Jeep is no longer dictated by factory limitations. Service access improves, suspension tuning becomes straightforward, and future upgrades are supported by the structure already in place.
When the axle moves back and the suspension finally has room to work, the 2 door JK stops feeling short. It starts feeling deliberate.
