Motobilt Front Half Frame Kit - Bare Steel

When building a Jeep TJ, LJ, or YJ for one-ton axles, 40-inch tires, and long travel suspension, the factory front frame quickly becomes the limiting factor. The stock frame rails, engine bay layout, and suspension mounting points were never designed to support coilover shock towers, full hydro steering, or a properly packaged 3 link or 4 link front suspension.

The Motobilt Front Half Frame Kit replaces the front section of the factory frame to solve these limitations. This system is designed specifically for Jeep TJ, LJ, and YJ platforms and creates the structure needed for front stretch, coilover suspension, and high clearance chassis layouts. It is a front chassis system and is not a rear frame chop or back half kit.

The kit uses a boxed C-channel design built from 3/16 inch steel that sleeves over portions of the factory frame and is welded in place. This creates a stronger, more rigid structure while allowing builders to completely redesign the front suspension and steering layout. The design opens up the engine bay and front frame rails to properly package coilovers, axle placement, and suspension geometry without fighting factory constraints.

Moving the front axle forward is common in these builds to improve approach angle, increase suspension up travel, and stretch wheelbase for stability. This kit supports that approach by repositioning the front frame structure upward and forward, eliminating the factory frame as a limiting point. The result is improved approach angle where the tires become the first point of contact instead of the frame or bumper.

An integrated front bumper and winch mount are built into the system, designed to accept a winch such as a Warn Zeon 12S or similar. The recessed mounting position protects the winch while maintaining airflow to the radiator. The design also includes provisions for a hawse fairlead and a lower winch line path for front end down-pull techniques used in steep rock crawling situations.

This kit is intended for advanced builds. Installation requires cutting and removing the factory front frame, modifying engine mounts, and fully welding the new structure into place. It is designed around full hydro steering systems and does not support factory-style mechanical steering. Builders should expect to fabricate engine mounts and make additional modifications depending on drivetrain and suspension setup.
