As Jeep JK and JKU build progress into larger axles, long travel suspension, and triangulated rear link setups, the factory fuel tank becomes a major limitation. Mounted in the center of the chassis, it takes up valuable space needed for suspension links, axle clearance, and proper rear packaging. Builders quickly find themselves working around the tank instead of building the suspension the right way.

The Motobilt MB5032 Rear Relocation Fuel Tank moves the fuel system behind the rear axle, opening up the center of the chassis for more advanced suspension layouts. With the tank relocated, builders gain the space needed for one-ton rear axles and triangulated 4 link suspension systems without interference from the factory tank location. This allows the rear suspension to cycle properly and makes room for more aggressive builds. It is important to note this is a rear relocation tank, not a stretch fuel tank. It is designed to reposition the factory fuel system without supporting rear stretch packaging like a dedicated stretch tank.

The tank itself is a 22-gallon aluminum fuel cell constructed from 1/8-inch-thick aluminum, CNC cut, formed, and TIG welded for strength and durability. The fill and vent tubes are CNC machined and designed to work with factory fuel fill and vent connections. The system is designed as a bolt-in installation that uses existing holes in the factory frame with no frame cutting required. It also retains compatibility with the factory EVAP system, eliminating the need for tuning. The included MB5034 kit provides the necessary fuel lines and fittings to integrate with the factory fuel and emissions systems, and the system is designed to reuse the factory fuel pump.

The aluminum tank is protected by a heavy duty 3/16-inch steel skid plate that mounts directly to the factory JK or JKU frame. The tank is secured to the skid using steel hold-down straps, creating a strong and protected fuel system for trail use. This setup is built for builders who want to free up chassis space while maintaining a functional and serviceable fuel system.
