If you have finally decided to upgrade your factory Jeep Wrangler brakes to handle the extra weight of that suspension upgrade, the bigger wheels, heavier tires, bulky roof rack, winch, fridge, and bumpers, you have no doubt purchased one of the good quality kits from the "Usual Suspects." None of the kits however, tells you about the soft/mushy pedal you'll get as a direct result of the bigger volume of brake fluid you will be pushing through the system, but with nowhere to pull this precious resource from. Its just simply not there. The kits mention nouns like "might", "maybe", "sometimes", but the real deal is if you want those expensive upgraded brakes you just bought to perform their best, you MUST get this kit. The reservoir is much bigger, the M/C has bigger bore size to pass more fluid through, and the bigger brake booster...well, it boost!! Its instant stopping power. A word of caution: you must bench bleed the M/C prior to installation, and the kit does not fit if you've installed the ARB dual/single compressor and braket under the hood. The Mopar BBK kit is dimple a bit bigger and it won't fit.
I installed UD60's on my '14 JK Rubi, the brake rotors and calipers on the UD60's are huge and I wanted to make sure the mc and brake booster were adequate for the massive brakes. After installing the new mc and brake booster I couldn't get the brake pedal to firm up. I bled the brakes every way possible and had the anti lock module bled as well and yet the brake pedal would continue to go all the way to the floor. I contacted Northridge 4x4 and they sent me a replacement mc and brake booster right away. The first kit that was sent didn't have a new seal with it, that goes between the mc and brake booster. I was instructed to use the oem seal which I did, and would later determine that that's what was causing the issue. The second kit that was sent did indeed have a new seal, after installing that kit, the brakes are better than when the jeep was new. Aside from the snafu with no seal being with the first kit, this setup is fantastic.
The J8 master cylinder and brake booster from MOPAR works really well. I paired it with a big brake kit (larger rotors and calipers) and my braking feels much better. I can lock up my 37" tires on a 4-door just fine now. I couldn't before. The pedal feel is also much improved. The build of each part seems good (they are MOPAR, not an aftermarket manufacturer). The performance per dollar is also good. The inclusion of the booster for this price is good. Also, the master cylinder has a larger bore than some of the competitors that don't include a larger booster. Installing the brake booster and master cylinder was difficult. The included instructions has you install the brake booster on the firewall bracket, then install the booster + bracket on the Jeep, then install the master cylinder. I found it much easier to install the bracket in the Jeep alone, install the master cylinder on the brake booster, then install the booster + master on the bracket together. This will force you to fasten the bolts of the booster inside the cab where the brake pedal is. The trade off is that it's much easier to move the booster + master in place this way. In fairness, replacing a brake booster is always a pain and isn't specific to this kit.

Q: Order separately? Derek 4 months ago
I am thinking about upgrading my master cylinder to the Teraflex option, so I wanted to know if the other two parts offered in this bundle can be ordered separately?

Is it possible to be install on a manual transmission by just keeping the original brake fluid reservoir?

A: The new master cylinder in this kit doesn't have a port for the clutch line. You have to run a different clutch fluid reservoir. The Wilwood 26011098 has been used by others with success(we don't carry it, however).

A: Yes, the EVO bracket has been used with the J8 Master/Booster combo, for the ARB single compressor. https://www.northridge4x4.com/part/compressor-mounts-accessories/1097-evo-manufacturing-air-compressor-mount-kit

A: It's for the check valve. You should pull the one out of your stock booster and place it in to the new booster.

Q: Check valve KingKrawler10 months ago
The check valve on this booster is different than the one on my 2012 JKU. It does not have the electrical plugin on it that the stock one has. So should the electrical plugin just be left unplugged after installing the new booster or should the check valve from the old stock booster be swapped over to the new J8 booster and then the electrical plug connected?

A: You should swap the check valve from the original booster to the new and discard the one that comes with the kit.
