Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Q: What does the Griffin Steering Attenuator do?
A: The Griffin Attenuator reduces road shock, harsh feedback, and vibration transferred through the steering wheel. It improves overall handling, comfort, and control—especially on Jeeps with larger tires or long-arm suspension kits.
Q: Does this draglink require drilling or modifications?A: No. This is a direct bolt-on replacement for the factory draglink. It uses the original bottom-mount location on the passenger-side knuckle—no drilling, cutting, or special tools are required.
Q: Is this draglink adjustable?A: Yes. It features a central adjustment sleeve with opposing threads, making it easy to fine-tune your steering wheel position without removing the draglink.
Q: Will this improve both on-road and off-road performance?A: Yes. The Griffin Attenuator smooths out harsh feedback on the road, while the high-strength construction and geometry correction improve trail durability and steering control.

REVIEWS & CUSTOMER MEDIA
My buddy had just snapped his sector shaft while we were out wheeling. It took us a good 8 hrs to get him recovered. There were not any sector shaft braces out at the time. And I was looking for a solution at the time. My thought was that this would maybe take some of the shock traveling from the knuckle to the sector shaft. And hopefully avoid that kind of recovery. Well, I never did come across that situation again. But this drag link did remove some of the jostling feedback I would feel in my steering wheel going over rough roads. And it worked great until it didn't. One day, I notice the whole center assembly rotating as I try center my steering. I was still under warranty and contacted SteerSmarts and they were able to send me a replacement at no additional charge and I sent them back the bad part. That is about as good as you can hope from customer service. And it's been running great ever since.

Out of all my jeeps, this is the first one that I can let go of the steering wheel at 75. Also installed the tie rods and stabilizer.. will be adding the front and rear adjustable track bars to replace the brand x that I bought originally. This is on a 2012 Call of Duty so I had to trim the AEV skid plate to clear the attenuator. Wasn’t much, just extended the inset that was there from the factory over about 6 inches
