AEV Heat Reduction Hood w/Black Mesh
JK
Features & Product Details
AEV’s all steel Heat Reduction Hood provides both fresh intake air and critical under hood cooling. With its clean, fluid lines, this hood’s design is not only functional but also adds distinctive styling to your JK.
The central vent of the Heat Reduction Hood is positioned to take advantage of the low-pressure area created at the front edge of the Hood when the vehicle is in motion. Since air moves from high pressure to low pressure areas, the placement of the center vent causes cooler outside air to be drawn through the radiator and up through the Hood.
The stamped steel Heat Reduction Hood features OE-style crumple zones and an e-coat primer for superior corrosion resistance. The side mesh inserts are removable to accommodate the installation of AEV’s Snorkel Kit.
Please Note: The AEV Heat Reduction Hood has a dual windshield washer nozzle configuration. This is the current configuration found on all 2013+ JK Wranglers. If you have a 2007-12 JK Wrangler with a single windshield washer nozzle, installation of the Heat Reduction Hood will require switching to a dual windshield washer nozzle system. We offer an optional Dual Washer Nozzle Kit for an easy, professional looking installation.

The heat in the engine bay is just outrageous. I switched to this Hood and cannot be happier. Fitment was perfect and looks amazing as well.
If you daily drive your Jeep like I do, you're going to want to buy new hood hinges and washer nozzles before you install this hood. My original hinges did not have paint on the underside and would need to be painted before install. Luckily, I was told this before install and opted to purchase new black Kentrol hinges prior to install. One of the original washer nozzles broke when it was removed. Also, the hood came with the mesh inserts pre-installed, so they had to be removed prior to paint. Aside from these minor hiccups, I am very happy with this hood. It definitely works to reduce heat. When stopped at a light, you can see the waves from the hot air rising through the hood vent.
This is the only part I have purchased for my Jeep that I did not personally install. The only reason I did not do the install was the hood had to be painted and I wanted that done by a professional. I would recommend purchasing new hood hinges and washer nozzles before you attempt the install. The original nozzles tend to break when removing them from the original hood. New hinges are not strictly required if you have time to remove and repaint them. This is my only vehicle, so I did not have that luxury. I opted to replace the original hinges with Black Kentrol hinges at the same time. Also, the mesh inserts came pre-installed in my hood, so they had to be removed prior to painting because I wanted them black and the rest of the hood white. The instructions state they need to be installed. Just something to be aware of before you get the hood painted. Aside from this minor hiccup, I am completely satisfied with this hood. It definitely reduces heat. You can see it work at a stop light by the heat waves as the hot air rises through the hood vent.

Does AEV make this hood anymore? I never see them in stock and heard rumors they stopped production.

A: We haven't heard they were no longer maiking them, and they are still available on the mfg website (although out of stock), so I'm going to say they are still in production at this time.

Q: AEV Hood Price GeorgeR4 years ago
Why is the price so high compared to Quadratec. They are selling this same hood for $875. Also, it says you have 2 in stock. Is this available in your Silverdale store?

A: Since they go via truck freight, the shipping costs associated with these is high. The hoods we currently have in stock are in our Utah warehouse.

Q: AEV heat Reduction Hood GeorgeR6 years ago
Is the hood color in the images the actual paint, or is it more like a grayish e-coat/primer paint for future painting to match the vehicle’s color?

A: It is an e-coating. The hood does need to be painted once you get it.
