The world's premier traction aid, an ARB Air Locker keeps you moving in all conditions. With the flick of the switch an Air Locker gives instant lock at any moment, and its super strong design allows activation at any speed, allowing you to tackle the toughest terrain. The advantage of the Air Locker lies in the pneumatically operated locking system inside the differential. When activated, the Air Locker prevents the internal differential gears from rotating and therefore prevents the axle shafts from turning independently of each other. With both wheels tied directly to the rotation of the ring gear, the vehicle maintains maximum possible traction at all times. When unlocked, it operates like a conventional open differential. An Air Locker equipped vehicle can be driven in a slower, safer and more controlled manner, greatly reducing the likelihood of vehicle damage and environmental impact.

Aftermarket Dana 44 standard cut ring and pinion ratios of 4.56 & up will require RD116 instead. Thick cut ring and pinion sets (all ratios) will require the use of the RD117. (Except Jeep JK)

Note:

Newer OEM Chrysler 8.25" and Dana 44 ring gear may have 3/8", 7/16" or 1/2" ring gear bolts.

Air locker flange holes must be drilled or reamed larger to suit 7/16" or 1/2" bolts.

For many applications, particularly if you are installing the RD117 into certain Jeep Wrangler JK/TJ Dana 44 axles, you may need to drill out or ream the 10 ring gear bolt holes on the locker flange itself

Aftermarket Dana 44 ring and pinion ratios of 4.56 & up will require RD116 instead. (Excludes Jeep JK)

Had to drill out holes in locker 2 months ago

That disclaimer about drilling out the axle is there now because of me...I purchased this locker to install on the rear of my 2016 JK non rubicon 44 rear axle. Had to drill out all 10 holes which is no joke! Felt very stressful drilling out 10 perfect holes in a very expensive brand new part. After that things went smoothly but be aware

My locker arrived in perfect condition and was packaged quite well. Install was not easy but no ARB install ever is. Works as it should so far although I haven't had it on the trails yet. I gave it 5 stars because I know that ARB makes quality parts.

We have ARB air lockers front and rear in our 1998 TJ Sport. We absolutely LOVE them! So worth the price. We have never had a problem with them, they definitely help us over some gnarly obstacles, and having the option to have them engaged or not is just the icing on the cake. We can choose to play without them for more of a challenge, or engage them in a sticky situation to help us get through it. If/when we build another rig, these will be our first choice hands down!
