This carrier is easily adjustable to accommodate just about any tire while sporting an aluminum camera mount to accommodate the Jeep JL's factory backup camera. This allows for easy relocation without having to invest in costly aftermarket mounts. Teraflex makes their tire mounting kits with the toughest A356.2 T6 cast aluminum in order to handle just about anything you throw it's way. This also allows the carrier to sport sharp mechanical details as well as the durability to withstand extreme environments. Furthermore, the tire mount is formed and welded from CNC laser cut steel, adding even more reliability to your ride as a whole. Installation is made simple and straightforward as this kit bolt directly to your vehicle without the need for any cutting, drilling, or welding. Max Tire Diameter: 39” (when used w/tailgate reinforcement)

Max Tire Diameter: 35" (when used w/factory tailgate and no reinforcement)

Wheel Pattern: 5x5”

Notes:

The factory tailgate can only support the weight of up to a 35” spare tire and wheel combo w/out reinforcement. A tailgate reinforcement is required to support up to a 39” spare tire and wheel combo. TeraFlex JL/JLU: Alpha HD Tailgate Reinforcement coming soon!

A spare tire larger than 39” will interfere with the stock rear bumper.

Installed the adjustable tire mount coupled with the Teraflex HD tailgate mount. The tire carrier is nice and easy to install, very sturdy quality stuff. There are a couple draw backs not mentioned. 1) you'll have to unplug the 3rd tail light wiring and remove it to remove your spare tire, but not that big a deal unless you have a lot of flats which I don't running BFG KM3s. 2) I use to carry a bag on my spare tire used for trash while overlanding, but now if I put the bad on it covers up the 3rd brake light. I'm going to have to figure out someway I can put my bag back on without hiding the 3rd brake light. Other than that it is a nice adjustable tire carrier.

I put this on after increasing tire size because our rear park assist alarm kept going off. It let me raise the spare up and tuck it in close to the tailgate. Kinda wish I'd gone with their tailgate/hinge reinforcement as well but I already had the mopar one installed. I did have one of the factory bolts strip out the hole while REMOVING it so had to tap it a size larger. It was probably over torqued at the factory. Otherwise no problems with the install and would definitely recommend.

Will this work with a 40" tire when paired with the TERAFLEX ALPHA HD, and will it fit a 3.5" BS wheel?

  A: Per the mfg, it will support a 39 inch tire. It will work on a wheel with 3.5 inches of back spacing.
