Clayton Front Axle Disconnect Skid Plate
JL/JT
Features & Product Details
The Clayton Off Road Jeep JL/JT Front Axle Disconnect (FAD) Skid Plate for your 2018+ Jeep Wrangler JL or 2020+ Gladiator was designed to offer maximum protection and strength.
Our 1/4" FAD skid plate was engineered to help protect both the front and rear of your mount. Utilizes an easy bolt on installation using 6 mounting points. New counter sunk bolts are included for the lowers to help with clearance, and factory hardware is reused in the top 4 mounting locations. Back is made slightly taller in order to offer maximum protection for your plastic and aluminum disconnector motor.
IMPORTANT NOTE : This skid plate REQUIRES the removal of your stock steering stabilizer bracket. We offer a high clearance, over the tie rod steering stabilizer conversion bracket. Part # 5209011

Very stout, easy to install, much better than stock. I have no worries about damaging the FAD anymore.
This thing is a serious upgrade to the wimpy stock skidplate. It easily weighs 3x as much, and protects the front, underside and rear of the FAD. Installation is a bit tricky as it requires alignment of bolts on a couple of different axis. I had to remove the nut from my lower control arm to get enough clearance, and once positioned I had to tap it with a rubber mallet from different angles to get everything aligned while the bolts were loosely installed. Then snugged up the bolts and that's all there is to it.
